Hacking the law! Der 1. Kölner Legal Tech Hackathon

Als Teil des Interactive Hackfest und im Rahmen des Interactive Festival 2017 hat der erste Kölner Legal Tech Hackathon Juristen und Softwareentwickler zusammengebracht. Ein rundum gelungenes Event, bei dem innovative Konzepte und Prototypen für die nachhaltige Anwendung in der juristischen Praxis gesucht wurden. Ziel war es, eine Brücke zwischen technischen Möglichkeiten sowie den Notwendigkeiten und Herausforderungen des Rechtsmarktes zu schlagen. Der zweitätige Hackathon ist auf der Basis und Idee des Legal Tech Hackathon von hacking.law entstanden. Wie auch beim ersten Legal Tech Hackathon in Berlin gelang es, Ideen programmierte Wirklichkeit werden zu lassen. Begleitet durch Legal Knowledge Engineers und Juristen mit technischer Expertise haben Teams Ideen offen entwickelt und im Rahmen eines Pitch-Events präsentiert. Die überzeugendsten Konzepte und wegweisendsten Prototypen wurden von einer Experten-Jury prämiert. Mit folgendem Ergebnis:

Complex cases are forwarded to a lawyer who gets an in depth briefing of the case including client information, case information and enhanced tools for further case work. Our idea is to make a legal text readable for everybody. Therefore we programmed a website on which you can upload a Word-document, a pdf-file or even a photograph of a legal document. Our tool analyses the text and identifies legal terms in it. Then it outputs the definition of the term based on a database. Our vision for the future is a context sensitive algorithm that interprets the terms related to tech other terms in the letter.
